Homelessness continues to be an issue facing people of all ages and backgrounds in our communities. This April, OperaWorks will launch its first in an on-going series of modern operatic productions. The first, "The Discord Altar," will be an original work developed and produced in association with Fugitive Kind Theater, recently nominated for 8 Ovation Awards.
This first production, “The Discord Altar,” will premiere in April. Twelve performances will take place in North Hollywood's intimate Secret Rose Theatre to allow for a powerfully real and visceral experience. The cast of six classically trained singing-actors will present a performance that is fully staged and costumed with the musical score newly improvised each night. At the conclusion of each performance there will be a talkback session with directors of homeless shelters around the Los Angeles area.
Creators: Meghan Brown, Playwright | Amanda McRaven, Director | Ann Baltz, Music Director & Pianist.
PERFORMANCE DATES: Fridays & Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm April 10-May 3, 2015.
